Placements24 is seeking a competent Facilities Engineer (upstream oil and gas) to join its hybrid Soweto team. You will design, construct, operate and maintain surface facilities for hydrocarbon production, ensuring safety, efficiency and environmental compliance.

The role combines on-site collaboration in Soweto with remote flexibility and close cooperation with project managers, construction teams and operations staff to deliver safe, reliable facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in facilities engineering for upstream oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of process design, equipment selection and P&ID development.
• Familiar with API/ASME codes and safety standards.
• Experience with project management and construction oversight.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a competent and driven Facilities Engineer specializing in upstream oil and gas operations to join their hybrid team. This role focuses on the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of surface facilities required for hydrocarbon production. You will ensure that all facilities are safe, efficient, environmentally sound, and meet project specifications. Working closely with project managers, construction teams, and operations personnel, you will contribute to the successful execution of facility projects, with a mix of on-site presence in Soweto and remote work flexibility. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify upstream oil and gas production facilities, including separation, processing, and storage systems.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment specifications, and construction drawings for new facilities and modifications.
• Oversee facility construction, commissioning, and start-up activities, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
• Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of existing production facilities.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for facility upgrades and expansions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
