Job summary

Dante Personnel Recruitment (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg is seeking an External Sales Consultant to join a dynamic shipping team. You will drive new business and manage key client relationships.

You will conduct client visits, prepare quotations, and negotiate freight contracts while ensuring service excellence and compliant processes.

The ideal candidate holds a maritime studies or related qualification, has at least 6 years in shipping, 2 years in ships agency sales, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Matric completed.
• Tertiary qualification in Maritime studies or Import/Export advantageous.
• Minimum 6 years experience in shipping or similar environment.
• At least 2 years experience in ships agency sales.
• Valid driver's license.
• Client visits.
• New business development and securing new clients.
• Filing and updating SQs and tenders.

Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new clients in shipping and related services.
• Conduct client visits to develop relationships and sales.
• Prepare and negotiate freight tenders and contracts.
• Provide customers with freight rate quotations and support.
• Liaise with principals on business matters and schedules.
• Maintain accurate databases and filing of documents.

• Client visits
• New business development, identify and secure new clients
• Client retention by maintain existing relationships
• Filing and checking of SQs
• Freight applications: Apply for rates, routings, feeder space, waivers, etc.
• Provide customers with freight rate quotations
• Provide customer support, i.e. handling of shipment and service queries if required.
• Liaise with Principal on BIZ matters
• Share guidelines, notices, sailing schedules
• Database updates
• Work on tenders and freight contracts negotiations
