Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking an External Sales Consultant for a client in the north of Johannesburg. The role focuses on sourcing new clients and maintaining current accounts in the shipping sector, with emphasis on freight quotations and tender negotiations.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years in shipping, 2+ years in shipping sales, a related tertiary qualification, and strong admin and interpersonal skills. A team player with a professional image is essential.

Qualifications

• More than 6 years’ experience in shipping environment or similar.
• More than 2 years’ experience in sales in shipping environment.
• Tertiary qualification in maritime studies/import, export and/or similar will be a great advantage.
• Admin orientated
• Strong interpersonal skills and handling difficult clients
• Portray corporate image

• Driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Source new clients and grow the customer base.
• Maintain and service existing clients.
• Filing and checking of SQs.
• Apply to principals for freight rates, routings and space.
• Provide customers with freight rate quotations.
• Assist customers with shipment and service queries.
• Communicate with principals on BIZ matters.
• Distribute freight rate guidelines and sailing schedules.
• Entertain clients and organise client functions.
• Negotiate tenders and freight contracts with clients and principals
