Job summary

DHL is seeking an Export Channel Controller in Johannesburg to keep export shipments moving by resolving queries and coordinating with exporters and internal teams.

You will monitor queues, obtain required information, review importer/exporter data, and ensure timely clearance while keeping customers informed with professional email communication. This role reports to the Exports Supervisor in Operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years customer service or call centre experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in customs entries.
• Good knowledge of the Customs Act and procedures.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with standard software.
• Strong customer relationship management and communication skills.
• Ability to write clear, professional and accurate email correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shipment queues and promptly action export queries.
• Contact exporters to obtain missing information for clearance.
• Review key shipment data including tariff headings, rebate codes and currencies.
• Keep customers informed on progress, delays and service impacts.
• Monitor ageing shipments in bond and escalate as needed.
• Maintain accurate shipment updates and query histories on DCE.
• Share finalised queries with ZA and TCS Entry Clerks for processing.
• Provide professional written communication and act as a key contact for customers.
• Follow DHL quality standards and Global SOPs.
