Job summary

ProStaffSelect is seeking a polished Restaurant General Manager for an award-winning upscale French restaurant and bar in Cape Town. You will oversee daily operations, manage FOH/BOH teams, monitor profitability, and ensure 5-star service and wine knowledge.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years senior management in top-rated restaurants or five-star hotels, strong leadership, HR skills, POS/BOH software proficiency, and a passion for food and wines.

Qualifications

• At least 2 - 5 years senior management experience within Top Rated Restaurants, 5* Hotels & Wine Estates.
• Strong leadership, financial literacy, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Highly proficient in Point of Sale and Back of House software as well as Excel, Word and Office.
• Proven success and abilities in planning, organising and staff management.
• Passion for FOOD and knowledge of WINES, Artisan COFFEE and 5* service standards.
• Experience in procurement / sourcing and hiring of staff and equipment.
• Excellent people skills, resourceful thinker & innovative worker.
• Accomplished in controlling profitability, beverage stocks, wastage & overall staff performance.

Responsibilities

• Operations : Oversee daily FOH and BOH service flow, maintain safety standards, and enforce health regulations.
• Staff Leadership : Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor employees to build a positive culture and reduce turnover.
• Financial Control : Manage the operating budget, monitor labor and food costs, and review profit and loss (P&L) statements.
• Guest Relations : Monitor service quality, engage with diners, and resolve complaints quickly.
• Inventory : Oversee stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and minimize kitchen waste.
• Compliance & Safety : Enforcing health codes, labor laws, and safety regulations.
• Strategic Bridge : Acting as the main link between business owners, corporate leadership, and frontline staff
