Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Mining Operations Manager for its flagship site in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will lead a large workforce, drive safety and production excellence, manage significant budgets, and implement strategic initiatives to optimise productivity across the mining lifecycle.

You will oversee both open-pit and underground operations, develop annual budgets, and foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Master’s degree/MBA is a strong advantage.
• 10–15 years of progressive mining operations leadership experience.
• Experience in open-pit and/or underground mining preferred.
• Proven leadership, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily mining operations planning, execution, and control.
• Achieve production targets safely, on time and within budget.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and resource recovery.
• Lead a large diverse team and foster safety and accountability.
• Prepare and manage annual operating budgets and capex plans.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and community policies.
• Drive continuous improvement using best practices and new tech.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with government, suppliers, and communities.
• Conduct performance reviews and coach the operations team.
• Report performance to executive management.
