Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Luxury Banqueting and Event Chef for a premier hospitality group in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead a kitchen brigade to deliver flawless fine-dining experiences at banquets, conferences, weddings and exclusive private functions.

You will design sophisticated menus, mentor staff, manage inventory and costs, and ensure HACCP-compliant hygiene. The role requires strong leadership, creativity, and flexibility to work irregular hours for events.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in high-end banqueting or event catering.
• 3+ years in Head Chef or Executive Sous Chef.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Formal culinary qualification essential.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee culinary operations for banquets and events from menu conception to execution.
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of skilled chefs and kitchen staff.
• Develop innovative and sophisticated menus for diverse client needs and dietary restrictions.
• Ensure quality, taste, and presentation meets high fine-dining standards.
• Manage kitchen inventory, procurement, and cost control; maintain hygiene and food safety.
