Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking an experienced Freight Imports/Exports specialist in Gauteng to manage costing, quotations and customer inquiries across sea, air and road freight.

You will prepare commercial offers, negotiate with transporters and ensure timely, accurate quotations while coordinating with internal departments and ensuring profitability and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years experience in Sea/Air/Road Freight Imports and Exports.
• Computer literate MS Office Suite Knowledge of Excel
• Numerically literate
• Proactive and tenacious
• Knowledge of the Logistics Market Transporters, Shipping Lines, Airlines, Packaging Companies, Inspections etc
• Calm, organised and able to work well under pressure

Responsibilities

• Deal directly with customers on costing requirements by phone, email, or in person
• Put together commercial offers for seafreight, airfreight, roadfreight (FCL/LCL/Groupage/Charter/Courier/Breakbulk)
• Obtain and evaluate information to handle enquiries
• Strong knowledge on requirements into the rest of Africa (e.g., Form M, Pre-shipment inspections)
• Process quotations and submit tenders; provide daily status reports upon request
• Able to work with large data points
• Direct requests to the designated resource and keep records of interactions
• Ensure accuracy and profitability of quotations
• Coordinate with internal departments and handover shipments to operations
• Negotiate rates with nominated third parties and network
• Record details of enquiries and monthly shipment/quote reports
• Complete other duties as deemed reasonable by manager

• Process quotations, submission of tenders to tender desk for completion, daily status report upon request of manager
• Able to work with large data points
• Direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated resource
• Keep records of customer interactions and transactions
• Record details of all enquiries with comments
• Ensure total accuracy of all quotations submitted
• Ensure all quotations carried out profitably
• Quotation negotiations to be based on quality of the service offered, as well as cost
• Ensure required / requested deadlines for quotations / reports that may be required are met
• Communicate and coordinate with internal departments
• Handover shipments to internal departments
• Liaise and communicate with network on a daily basis
• Negotiating rates with nominated and approved third parties upon request from client and company Network
• Handling of general admin work
• Complete handovers to operations for new business
• Creating a positive relationship with customers and ensuring the interaction the customer has with the business is an efficient satisfying experience.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Monthly report on shipments quoted and value, Hit rate
• All other duties assigned by the reporting manager deemed as reasonable and in line with the inherent requirements of the role
