Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in software development and engineering leadership roles.
• Proven experience managing large, diverse engineering teams and complex software projects.
• In-depth knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps).
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, microservices, and modern application development stacks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in defining and implementing engineering excellence frameworks.
• Ability to mentor and develop technical talent.
• This is a hybrid role requiring regular presence at our Durban office.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
• Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery of products.
• Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and other development process improvements.
• Champion technical innovation and research into new technologies and tools.
• Develop and manage the engineering department's budget and resource allocation.
• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering teams and projects.
• Collaborate with product management to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure robust testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes are in place.
• Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the engineering community in Durban.
