Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited invites applications for Engineering Assistant Level 1 (Fixed Term) based in Mokopane, Limpopo. The role supports artisans, handles material flow, and helps maintain equipment within our metallurgical operations.

Two positions are available. Candidates must have at least 6 months of boilermaker engineering experience, a valid SA driver’s license, and pass psychometric testing. The role reports to the Foreman/Artisan and emphasizes safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months relevant boilermaker engineering experience.
• Must be a South African citizen with no criminal record.
• Must pass the relevant psychometric assessment.
• Must have a valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• React to abnormal activities and notify the process supervisor.
• Assist with cleaning, maintenance and basic repair of machinery and equipment.
• Support artisans; ensure tools, materials and spares are available.
• Follow work instructions and safety standards to minimize waste and risk.
• Coordinate loading and dispatch of materials to sites where applicable.
• Promote teamwork and effective two-way communication within the team.
• Inspect and accompany artisans during tasks and help maintain equipment.

This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Reacting to abnormal activities and notification of such to the process supervisor
• Cleaning and painting.
• Works under direct supervision and reports to Artisan.
• Material handling and maintenance of machinery and equipment control specification.
• Use of engineering tools.
• Loading, dispatching material & equipment to work sites (as applicable per site).
• Provides assistance to all trades (Artisans) with activities within teams.
• Ensure tool availability and cleanliness.
• Follow work instructions.
• Ensure proper understanding of the required actions
• Apply recognised work and safety standards
• Ensure that members work together as a team while completing tasks
• Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards
• Ensure that material is not unnecessarily wasted.
• Ensure that all required tools, material and spares are available to perform tasks
• Communicate any unexpected problems to artisans.
• Effective two-way communication with team members.
• Help operational employees to maintain equipment in area of responsibility
• Accompany artisan when inspecting and completing tasks.
• Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices.

This role is at a Band GBF 9 level reporting to the Foreman/Artisan.

• Internal -IDC to develop individual through ABET, NCOR, NTC2

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum of 6 Months relevant experience in boilermaker engineering
• Valid driving license (advantageous)

IMPORTANT: applications without qualification-related attachments will not be considered.

• Must be prepared to work on surface, open pit ‘dusty areas.
• Work in accordance to work schedule of area and could possibly involve working shifts
• Must be a South African Citizen
• No Criminal Record
• Must pass the relevant psychometric assessment
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license
