Job summary

Electricial Technologist/Technician needed in Bellville, Cape Town. Role focuses on electrical design, procurement and contract management across municipal and private sector projects.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, a BTech/NDip in Electrical Engineering, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Relux, Reticmaster, and Revit MEP. ECSA PrTech advantageous. Salary negotiable with travel across the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• BTech/NDip in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proven design and construction experience in electrical infrastructure or building services.
• Proficiency with electrical infrastructure design software.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Western Cape.
• ECSA PrTech registration advantageous or eligible for registration.
• Strong communication skills in two of the Western Cape official languages.

Responsibilities

• Work on electrical infrastructure and building services projects.
• Lead feasibility, concept development, and detailed design phases.
• Manage design deliverables and contracts with teams and clients.

• Attend design and project meetings and prepare reports.

• Monitor budgets, revenue estimates, and project finances.

Permanent | Full-Time | Building Services & Electrical Infrastructure

A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a talented and passionate Electrical Technologist / Technician to join its team in Bellville, Cape Town.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional with proven design, procurement, and contract management experience across electrical infrastructure and building services projects. The successful candidate will work on both municipal and private-sector projects, gaining exposure to projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on electrical infrastructure and multidisciplinary building services projects.
• Assist with projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and execution.
• Manage electrical design and project deliverables independently and as part of a team.
• Liaise with clients, employers, public authorities, project teams, and executive managers.
• Attend design, client, and project meetings.
• Compile cost estimates, Bills of Quantities, specifications, technical documentation, procurement documentation, and reports.
• Manage electrical infrastructure and building services projects and contracts.
• Assist with financial planning, revenue estimates, capital estimates, and project budgets.
• Analyse project requirements and independently resolve technical and project-related challenges.
• Coordinate and integrate different software packages where required.
• Work effectively within a collaborative, open-plan office environment.

Minimum Requirements

• BTech Degree or National Diploma (NDip) in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience.
• Proven design and construction experience within electrical infrastructure and/or building services.
• Experience with electrical infrastructure design software.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
• Willingness to travel and drive throughout the Western Cape.
• ECSA registration as Pr Tech or Pr Techni Eng will be advantageous, or candidates who are eligible for registration.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
