Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle of electrical engineering projects from scoping and design to implementation and handover.
• Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, schematics, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project success.
• Ensure designs and installations comply with electrical codes and standards (SANS, IEC).
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather requirements and monitor progress.
• Oversee procurement of electrical equipment, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage budgets and schedules, identifying and mitigating risks.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during project execution.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy firm in Cape Town, Western Cape , is seeking a skilled Project Electrical Engineer to manage and execute diverse electrical engineering projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management acumen, and client liaison skills. You will be responsible for overseeing projects from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design and implementation across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, and renewable energy. This hybrid role offers a dynamic work environment, combining office-based responsibilities with opportunities for site visits and remote collaboration, based in the vibrant city of Cape Town .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of electrical engineering projects, from initial scoping and design to implementation and handover.
• Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, schematics, and cost estimates for various projects.
• Coordinate and liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
• Ensure all project designs and installations comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., SANS, IEC).

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. or similar) is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with significant project management responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing electrical systems for commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
• Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind) is a plus.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites within the Western Cape and surrounding areas.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders in Cape Town .
