Job summary

Shift Pursuit is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer/Technologist for their Pretoria team. The role targets an ECSA-registered professional who can own electrical design from concept through construction and commissioning.

You will lead design activities, develop 2D/3D drawings, perform calculations, prepare schedules, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• ECSA registration as PrEng or PrTechEng is required.
• Minimum 8 years' electrical design experience in building environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design activities across building services projects.
• Develop and review 2D, 3D and Revit-based electrical drawings.
• Prepare calculations, single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts.
• Compile design criteria, reports, specifications and schedules.
• Provide input into BOQs and project cost documentation.
• Review designs for technical accuracy, quality and compliance.
• Conduct site assessments and field surveys.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical input.
• Support installation, testing and commissioning activities.
• Participate in FAT and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, engineers and draughting teams.
• Take ownership of the electrical design scope through to completion.

Our client, an established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm, is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer / Technologist to join their Pretoria team. This role suits an ECSA-registered professional with strong building services design experience and the ability to take ownership of electrical project deliverables from initial design through to construction and commissioning.

Key Performance Areas

• Lead electrical design activities across building services projects.
• Develop and review 2D, 3D and Revit-based electrical drawings.
• Prepare calculations, single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts and technical documentation.
• Compile design criteria, reports, specifications, equipment schedules and cable schedules.
• Provide input into BOQs and project cost documentation.

Requirements

• ECSA registration as a PrEng or PrTech Eng
• Minimum 8 years’ relevant electrical design experience within the building environment
• Strong knowledge of electrical design standards and engineering practices
• Experience across ECSA Stages 1–6
• Experience across greenfield and brownfield developments, renovations, upgrades and new installations
• Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning
• Willingness to travel to project sites when required

Technical Experience

• MV and LV distribution systems and switchgear.
• Lighting and small power.
• Earthing and lightning protection.
• Generators and UPS systems.
• Electronic services, CCTV, security and access control.
• Hospital electrical and electronic systems.
• Exposure to solar, wind or alternative energy systems will be advantageous.
