Role Overview
Reporting to the DCL Engineer, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the electrical design and delivery of assigned project scopes, working closely with clients, project teams and draughting resources.
The role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of projects and project phases, from ECSA Stage 1 through Stage 6, including greenfield and brownfield developments, upgrades, renovations and new installations
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver electrical designs for projects across the building environment.
- Prepare and review 2D, 3D and Revit-based electrical drawings, working closely with draughtsmen.
- Apply sound engineering principles across a range of electrical systems, including:
- MV overhead lines and distribution systems
- MV and LV switchgear
- Lighting and small power
- Earthing and lightning protection
- Generator and UPS installations
- Electronic services
- CCTV, security and access control
- Hospital electrical and electronic services
- Prepare and review electrical design documentation, including:
- Design calculations
- Single-line diagrams
- Equipment layouts
- Schematic diagrams
- Racking and routing drawings
- General arrangement drawings
- Panel general arrangement drawings
- Prepare technical documentation, including design criteria, design reports, specifications, equipment datasheets and cable schedules.
- Provide input into Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Conduct system and design reviews to ensure technical quality and compliance.
- Carry out field surveys and site assessments as required.
- Participate in project progress meetings and provide technical input and reporting.
- Support electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and assist with commissioning of electrical systems.
- Travel to project sites when required to support design and construction activities.
- Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary project environment and take responsibility for delivering the electrical design scope in its entirety.
Exposure to solar, wind and other alternative energy systems will be an advantage.
Key Requirements
- PrEng / PrTech registered with ECSA.
- Minimum 8 years' relevant experience in electrical systems design within the building environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical design requirements, standards and practices across the various project execution phases, particularly ECSA Stage 1-6.
- Experience working on greenfield and brownfield projects, as well as renovations, repairs, upgrades and new developments.
- Proven experience in Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, coordination and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small, multi-disciplinary team.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to take ownership of assigned project deliverables.
- Willingness to travel to project sites when required.
