Placements24 is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician in Stellenbosch to install, maintain, and troubleshoot solar power systems, battery storage, and related electrical infrastructure. The role includes field work with occasional office tasks related to monitoring and reporting.

The ideal candidate has a qualified Electrician trade certificate and at least 3 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance, with a strong renewable energy background.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with trade certification.
• Minimum 3 years in electrical installation and maintenance, preferably in renewables.
• Proficient with solar inverters, charge controllers, and BMS.

Responsibilities

• Install, connect, and commission solar PV systems, battery storage, and related electrical equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostic testing on existing renewable energy systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Ensure installations and maintenance comply with electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Document all work performed, including system performance data, test results, and maintenance records.
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding system operation and performance.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician with a focus on renewable energy systems to join their team in Stellenbosch . This role will involve the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar power systems, battery storage solutions, and related electrical infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our clients' renewable energy installations. The successful candidate will possess strong electrical knowledge, practical installation skills, and a commitment to working safely and effectively within the dynamic renewable energy sector. This position offers a blend of field and potentially some office-based tasks related to system monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, connect, and commission solar PV systems, battery storage, and associated electrical equipment.

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician with relevant trade certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance, with a strong preference for experience in the renewable energy sector.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Experience with solar inverters, charge controllers, and battery management systems.
• Understanding of grid-tied and off-grid solar power systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites within the Stellenbosch region, with occasional travel further afield.
