Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape is seeking a Renewable Energy Systems Technician to install, commission, and maintain solar PV systems and related infrastructure. You will help ensure optimal performance and longevity of renewable assets while contributing to clean energy reliability.

The role requires an NQF Level 4 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related trade) and at least 2 years of hands-on PV installation and maintenance experience, with strong safety

Qualifications

This hands-on role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and related infrastructure. You will ensure the optimal performance and longevity of our renewable energy assets, contributing directly to the reliable supply of clean energy. Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain solar PV panels, inverters, mounting structures, and associated electrical components.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on renewable energy systems to ensure peak operational efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair faults in solar PV systems, including troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and industry best practices during all site operations in Upington .
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance, and inventory of spare parts.

Requirements

• NQF Level 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with the installation and maintenance of solar PV systems .
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
