Key Responsibilities

• Manage the electrical design, engineering, procurement, and construction phases of renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind).
• Develop and review electrical single-line diagrams, load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment specifications.
• Oversee the selection and procurement of electrical balance of system (BOS) components, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
• Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and international codes.
• Coordinate with grid connection authorities and ensure compliance with utility interconnection requirements.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for electrical scopes of work.
• Supervise site electrical activities, ensuring safe work practices and quality installation.
• Perform technical reviews of contractor submissions and proposals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during construction and commissioning phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a significant portion focused on project management or design within the renewable energy sector (solar or wind).
• Demonstrated understanding of power conversion systems (inverters), grid interconnection standards, and electrical protection for renewable energy plants.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and simulation tools.
• Experience with project management methodologies and software.
• Strong knowledge of South African electrical regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
