Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation Manager to oversee on-site electrical installation activities across Randburg projects. You will lead electricians, coordinate with site managers, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery of complex infrastructure works.

The role requires a relevant trade qualification or electrical engineering degree, at least 7 years in electrical installations, and a proven leadership record.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in electrical installation or related diploma/degree.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical installations with supervisory/managerial exposure.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale electrical installation projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and supervise electrical installation work across multiple project sites.
• Lead teams of electricians, foremen and subcontractors, ensuring productivity and adherence to plans.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, SANS standards and other regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections for progress, quality and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and clients to resolve installation issues.
• Develop and manage the electrical installation budget including labour, materials and equipment.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent construction and engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation Manager to oversee and direct all electrical installation activities on various project sites. This role is critical for ensuring that electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. Based primarily on-site in and around Randburg, Gauteng, ZA , this position requires a hands-on approach and strong leadership capabilities. You will manage teams of electricians, coordinate with other site managers and contractors, and ensure strict adherence to project specifications and safety regulations. This is an opportunity to lead significant electrical infrastructure projects and contribute to the successful delivery of major developments in the region. We are looking for a proven leader with a deep understanding of electrical systems and construction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and supervise all electrical installation work across multiple project sites.
• Manage and lead teams of electricians, foremen, and subcontractors, ensuring productivity and adherence to work plans.
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), SANS standards, and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve installation issues and ensure project objectives are met.
• Develop and manage the electrical installation budget, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
• Oversee the procurement of electrical materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
• Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols on all installation sites.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical installation problems encountered on site.
• Prepare progress reports, site documentation, and handover documentation for electrical installations.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency among the installation teams.

Requirements

• Trade Qualification in Electrical Installation (e.g., Wireman's License) or a National Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical installations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Proven experience managing large-scale electrical installation projects in the commercial or industrial sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, low and high voltage installations, and building management systems.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and motivational skills.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Must be based in or able to commute regularly to project sites in Randburg, Gauteng, ZA and surrounding areas.
