Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Installation Engineer to lead the planning, execution and completion of electrical installations across commercial and industrial projects in Nelspruit. The role focuses on safety, quality and adherence to design specifications and South African standards.

The ideal candidate has practical experience in electrical installation management, strong knowledge of electrical systems, and the ability to coordinate with multiple trades on site.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in electrical engineering is required.
• At least 4 years' experience in electrical installation, supervision or coordination.
• Experience with commercial or industrial electrical projects.
• Strong knowledge of wiring, power systems and low-voltage installations.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and technical specs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage installation of electrical systems including power, lighting and LV.
• Interpret drawings and specs to guide installation activities.
• Ensure compliance with SANS and local building codes.
• Coordinate with site managers, electricians and subcontractors.
• Conduct site inspections for progress, quality and safety.
• Identify and resolve installation issues promptly.
• Manage procurement and inventory of electrical materials on site.
• Maintain daily reports and progress logs.
• Perform testing and commissioning prior to handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.

• Ensure all electrical installations are performed in compliance with relevant South African standards (SANS) and building codes.


• Coordinate with site managers, electricians, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure seamless workflow.


• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to safety protocols.


• Identify and resolve installation issues and technical challenges promptly.


• Manage the procurement and inventory of electrical materials and equipment on site.


• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress logs, and material reconciliations.


• Ensure all safety regulations are strictly followed, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.


• Perform final testing and commissioning of electrical installations prior to handover.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.


• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical installation, site supervision, or project coordination.


• Proven experience in managing electrical installations for commercial or industrial projects.


• Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, power systems, and low-voltage installations.


• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.
