Qualifications

You will be responsible for developing comprehensive electrical systems designs, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for various infrastructure projects, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) using relevant software.
• Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather project requirements and site conditions.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards (e.g., SANS, IEC) and building codes.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other consultants to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into overall project designs.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries during the construction phase.
• Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop calculations.
• Assist in the commissioning and testing of electrical installations to verify compliance with design specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with exposure to infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and electrical design tools.
• Solid understanding of electrical building services, power distribution systems, and low-voltage installations.
• Knowledge of South African electrical regulations and safety standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage design tasks effectively.
• Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) is an advantage.
