Placements24 in Mahikeng is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer focused on Power Distribution Planning to help ensure the long-term capacity and reliability of the regional network. You will lead load forecasting, expansion planning, and integration of new energy sources.

This hybrid role requires collaboration across planning sessions at the office and focused analysis remotely, contributing to modernizing the energy infrastructure in the North West province.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus.
• Minimum 6 years in electrical power distribution planning or design.
• Pr.Eng. registration is advantageous.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software.
• Strong understanding of distribution network components and protection schemes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct load analysis and forecasting to predict future electricity demand patterns.
• Develop and optimize long-term expansion plans for the power distribution network.
• Perform power flow, fault level, and stability studies for network integrity.
• Evaluate technologies for network improvement, including smart grids.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams on planned works.
• Prepare technical reports and proposals for capital investment.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
