Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to contribute to major infrastructure projects in Upington. You will analyze, design, and optimize high-voltage power systems for grid infrastructure, generation, and distribution, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires proficiency in load flow, fault studies, and protection schemes, with exposure to renewable integration. A Pr. Eng with ECSA is preferred; hybrid work may be available on larger projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Extensive experience in analysis and design of electrical power systems.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies for power systems.
• Design and specify electrical components for substations, transmission, and distribution lines.
• Develop protection schemes and coordinate relays for power system equipment.
• Analyze power quality issues and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with grid operators on system planning and operation.
