Job summary

Placements24 in Soweto is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in utilities and grid connections to design and enhance electrical infrastructure for power distribution and grid integration. You will lead planning, analysis, and execution of projects aimed at improving grid stability, reliability and capacity, while ensuring compliance with Eskom grid codes and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
6+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems/utilities.
Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of grid interconnection requirements and power quality.

Responsibilities

Design electrical systems for utility infrastructure including substations and grid connections.
Perform power system studies (load flow, fault analysis, stability).
Develop technical specifications and drawings for equipment and installations.
Ensure compliance with Eskom grid codes and NERSA regulations.
Manage grid upgrade and connection projects.
Collaborate with internal teams, consultants and regulators.
Troubleshoot power quality and grid disturbances.
