Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni is seeking an experienced Electrical Power Engineer to design, analyse and implement power systems for infrastructure and industrial projects. You will help ensure reliability, efficiency and safety of power distribution networks and substations.

The ideal candidate holds a BEng in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with at least 5 years of hands‑on experience and strong capabilities in ETAP, PSS/E and PowerWorld, plus knowledge of SA grid codes and HV/MV equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
Minimum 5 years of experience.
Proficient in ETAP, PSS/E, PowerWorld.
In-depth HV/MV knowledge.
Familiar with SA grid codes and utility standards.

Responsibilities

Design power systems, distribution networks, substations, and protection schemes.
Perform power flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies.
Develop specifications for transformers, switchgear, generators.
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of power components.
Ensure compliance with SA standards and safety regulations.
Provide technical support for operation and maintenance.
