Network Contracting in Gauteng is seeking a junior Electrical Engineer to assist with inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems and machinery. You will support senior engineers and technicians in diagnosing faults and participate in preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

The role involves reading drawings, testing components, and helping with PLC/VSD-related tasks under supervision.

Formación

• Bachelors or diploma in Electrical Engineering as listed; strong foundational knowledge.
• Graduates or candidates with limited industrial experience are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read basic electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems and production machinery.
• Support senior engineers, electricians and maintenance technicians in diagnosing faults.
• Assist with preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and failures.
• Help install, test and commission electrical components and control panels.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Assist with troubleshooting motors, sensors, relays and motor control circuits.
• Support maintenance and testing of VSDs and PLC-controlled equipment under supervision.
• Document maintenance activities and report faults and safety risks.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Liaise with production to understand problems and assist with corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and electrical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems and production machinery.
• Support senior engineers, electricians and maintenance technicians in diagnosing and resolving electrical faults.
• Assist with preventative maintenance activities to reduce equipment breakdowns and production downtime.
• Help install, test and commission electrical components, motors, control panels and production equipment.
• Read and interpret basic electrical drawings, circuit diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical motors, sensors, switches, relays, contactors and motor control circuits.
• Support the maintenance and testing of variable speed drives (VSDs) and PLC-controlled equipment under supervision.
• Conduct routine inspections and report electrical faults, equipment defects and potential safety risks.
• Assist with documenting maintenance activities, breakdowns, inspections and repairs.
• Help identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety and production efficiency.
• Liaise with production personnel to understand equipment-related problems and assist with corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, electrical safety standards and applicable legislation.
• Participate in engineering projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Minimum Requirements

• BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering, BEngTech in Electrical Engineering, or a relevant National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Graduates and candidates with limited industrial experience are encouraged to apply.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits, electrical machines, motors and industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret basic electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Basic computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Strong interest in industrial manufacturing, electrical maintenance and engineering problem-solving.
