• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motors, drives and power distribution.
• Proficiency in reading electrical drawings and schematics; PLC knowledge is essential.
• Familiar with health and safety legislation and LOTO procedures.

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturing company with significant operations in Midrand, Gauteng, is seeking a diligent and experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer. This role is pivotal in ensuring the continuous and safe operation of all electrical equipment and plant machinery. You will be responsible for developing and executing preventative maintenance schedules, troubleshooting electrical faults, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical systems, motor control, power distribution, and a proactive approach to maintenance management. This is a critical role within the operations team, contributing directly to the plant's productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all electrical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on plant machinery, control systems, and power distribution networks.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
• Oversee electrical shutdown maintenance activities and ensure timely completion.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
• Assist in the commissioning of new electrical installations and equipment upgrades.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance technicians on electrical systems and procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs using the company's CMMS.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including motors, drives, control panels, and power distribution.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and troubleshooting is essential.
• Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Familiarity with relevant health and safety legislation.
