Job summary

Recruitpro Solutions seeks a seasoned electrical engineering leader to manage the department, oversee design and field activities, and ensure adherence to safety standards. The role requires guiding engineers, coordinating with clients, and delivering compliant, on-time projects across Africa.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in operational and design roles, with SANS and MCC experience, and registration in electrical engineering advantageous. Location Pretoria with travel.

Qualifications

• BEng or equivalent NQF is preferred; diploma or BTech/MTech acceptable.
• Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech registration in Electrical Engineering is highly advantageous.
• 10+ years operational and design experience.
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards and the MHS Act.
• Industrial plant design experience and MCC design (SANS) knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and control the electrical engineering department and related activities.

• Conduct site audits and compile compliance reports; manage commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial

• Manage and control the electrical engineering department and all associated activities
• Ensure all projects adhere to company quality systems and safety standards
• Monitor and support the electrical design team, applying industry best practices
• Ensure technical projects meet deadlines, eliminate waste, and remain profitable
• Team development planning and mentoring of drafts people and engineers
• Report risks and gaps in projects

Technical

• Review and sign off detailed electrical designs according to applicable standards and scope of works
• Align designs with industry best practices for cost management and safety compliance
• Liaise with clients on design specifications and requirements
• Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documentation
• Compile data packs for manufacturing and software engineering phases
• Conduct site audits and compile compliance reportsComplete and review detailed medium voltage and low voltage electrical designs
• Prepare and manage commissioning procedures and documentation

Requirements

• BEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent NQF qualification (preferred); alternatively a Diploma or BTech/MTech
• Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech registration in Electrical Engineering (highly advantageous)
• 10+ years' operational and design experience, including relevant design software exposure
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards and the MHS Act
• Solid technical product knowledge
• Basic knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
• Industrial plant design experience
• Mining design experience
• MCC design (SANS) knowledge

Location

Pretoria-based, with travel to project sites across Africa, South Africa, and internationally as required.
