Placements24 invites an Electrical Engineer to join a renewable energy developer in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. You will design electrical systems for solar PV and wind projects, perform load calculations, and ensure interconnection and safety compliance.

Work with project managers and site engineers, review vendor proposals, and support construction, commissioning, and testing. A strong background in power electronics and standards is essential; Pr.Eng is an advantage.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• - Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on renewable energy projects (solar PV or wind).
• Proficiency in electrical design and simulation software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP).
• Good understanding of power electronics, inverters, and grid interconnection requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is an advantage.

Aufgaben

• Design and engineer electrical systems for solar PV and wind power plants, including array layouts, inverter selection, and DC/AC distribution.
• Perform electrical load calculations, energy yield assessments, and grid interconnection studies.
• Specify and select electrical equipment such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
• Develop single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical specifications.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards (IEC, SANS), and client requirements.
• Support the procurement process by reviewing vendor proposals and technical submittals.
• Provide technical assistance during the construction, commissioning, and testing phases.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and propose effective solutions.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in the renewable energy sector.
