Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our renewable energy client in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will lead electrical design across solar, wind and hybrid projects, developing schematics, protection schemes, and grid interconnection strategies. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines to ensure safe, efficient energy systems.

The role requires a Pr. Eng. with SA ECSA, 7+ years in power systems and renewables, and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical engineering focusing on power systems and renewable energy projects.
• Experience in grid-connected renewable energy design and implementation.
• Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, and PVSyst.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and engineering for renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind, and hybrids).
• Create single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform load calculations, power studies, and protection design.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, inverters, cables, and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and grid interconnection requirements.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure integrated project design.
• Manage electrical contractors during construction, commissioning and testing.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers.
