About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and talented Electrical Design Drafter to join their engineering department in Mossel Bay, Western Cape.
This role is crucial in supporting the electrical engineering team by producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation for a variety of projects.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and proficiency in using CAD software to create electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams.
You will work closely with engineers to translate design concepts into accurate and reproducible drawings, ensuring all documentation meets industry standards and project specifications.
This position offers a Hybrid work arrangement, combining essential office-based collaboration with the flexibility of remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules, using CAD software.
• Assist electrical engineers in the design process by creating preliminary sketches and detailed drawings.
• Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and comply with relevant standards and specifications.
• Manage and organize drawing revisions and updates, maintaining an organized drawing database.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand design requirements and project timelines.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on electrical designs.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and reports related to electrical designs.
• Maintain CAD software and ensure its proper functionality.

Requirements

• National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a relevant drafting qualification.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Drafter or similar role.
• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical drafting packages.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of electrical components and systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication skills, able to collaborate with engineering teams.
• Familiarity with a Hybrid work environment and proficient in using remote collaboration tools.
