Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a knowledgeable Environmental Health & Safety Officer with a strong focus on sanitation to join our client in Bloemfontein. You will develop, implement, and monitor EHS programs, conduct risk assessments, and promote a robust safety culture across operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Environmental Health or related field and a minimum of four years' EHS experience, particularly in sanitation management, with good regulatory knowledge and training delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in an EHS role with sanitation focus.
• Strong knowledge of South African health, safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs focusing on sanitation and hygiene.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop and deliver EHS training to employees on sanitation, hazardous waste management, and emergency procedures.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage waste disposal programs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Maintain EHS records, including incident reports, training logs and compliance documentation.
