Mayfly Agri (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced E-commerce Leader to manage and optimise our online channel, including product catalogues, digital marketing and logistics integration. You will drive ROI-focused campaigns, oversee vendors, and ensure compliant, high-quality customer experiences across desktop and mobile.

The role requires strong stakeholder collaboration across retail, IT, finance and marketing, with a focus on efficient fulfilment and profitable online growth in a multi-branch

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field as listed in the requirements.
  • 5+ years of e-commerce leadership experience in agriculture/retail/hardware or multi-branch environments.
  • Experience leading complex e-commerce migrations or bespoke software deployments.
  • Experience integrating third-party logistics and courier APIs and automated dispatch workflows.
  • Experience managing digital ad budgets with measurable ROI.
  • Knowledge of major South African regulatory acts (ECTA, POPIA, CPA, Cybercrimes).
  • Understanding of customer journey mapping and web performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with SEO/SEM, PPC, social advertising and lifecycle email marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain and optimize the e-commerce website for high availability and secure trading.
  • Own end-to-end product catalogue management across all online channels.
  • Plan, execute and evaluate digital marketing strategies to drive targeted traffic and customer acquisition.
  • Control digital advertising budgets to improve ROI and overall marketing performance.
  • Deliver a frictionless digital customer journey across desktop and mobile, including checkout and delivery experiences.
  • Establish digital customer service frameworks and build brand loyalty.
  • Coordinate with retail branches, warehouse and logistics to ensure accurate picking, packing and dispatch.
  • Oversee third-party logistics and API integrations for nationwide delivery and branch collection.
  • Align online inventory and fulfilment rules with multi-branch operations.
  • Analyze sales performance, user behavior and channel profitability to drive commercial strategy and reporting.
  • Identify and test conversion-rate improvements including A/B tests of layout and merchandising.
  • Manage agency developers, vendors and technical partners and ensure integration with core systems.
  • Ensure e-commerce operations comply with relevant legislation and consumer standards.
  • Monitor web metrics and act on insights; collaborate with merchandising, finance, IT and marketing.
  • Drive sustainable online sales growth and platform profitability through cross-functional collaboration.

Job description

Minimum requirements for the role:
  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Business Management, Marketing, E-Commerce, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years e-commerce leadership experience within an agricultural, retail, hardware, fast-moving consumer goods or multi-branch trading environment
  • Experience in leading complex e-commerce migration projects or bespoke software development implementations is essential
  • Must have experience in managing third-party logistics integration, courier API connections and automated dispatch workflows
  • Experience managing digital advertising budgets and returning measurable return on advertising spend / return on investment (ROI)
  • Must have basic knowledge of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA 25 of 2002), Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA 4 of 2013), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA 85 of 1993), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and Cybercrimes Act (19 of 2020)
  • Familiarity with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), consumer legislation and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of customer journey mapping, mobile responsiveness, site speed optimisation, interface accessibility, digital user experience and key web metrics
  • Proficiency in e-commerce platform layout, catalogue structure, checkout flows, payment gateway integrations, conversion rate optimisation, e-commerce architecture and management
  • Exposure to search engine optimisation, search engine marketing, pay-per-click, social media advertising and automated lifecycle email marketing
  • Strong analytical and numerical reasoning, with exceptional precision and attention to detail
  • Creative problem-solving and proactive innovation, with digital literacy and adaptability to emerging digital tools
  • Effective time management and priority setting, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Vendor and external agency management, with stakeholder coordination and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
  • Must have a valid drivers licence
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Managing, maintaining and optimising the e-commerce website, ensuring high availability, zero avoidable downtime, and a stable, secure trading environment.
  • Owning end-to-end product catalogue management, including product data, images, specifications, categories, stock visibility and absolute pricing accuracy across all online channels.
  • Planning, executing and evaluating high-impact digital marketing strategies (SEO, SEM, PPC, social media advertising and lifecycle email) that drive targeted traffic, brand visibility and high-value customer acquisition.
  • Managing digital advertising budgets and continuously improving return on advertising spend and overall marketing ROI.
  • Delivering an outstanding, friction-free digital customer journey across desktop and mobile, including site speed, checkout flow, payment options, click & collect and delivery experiences.
  • Establishing and managing digital customer service frameworks, resolving queries efficiently and building long-term brand loyalty.
  • Coordinating with retail branches, warehouse and logistics teams so that all online orders are accurately picked, packed and dispatched on time, with minimal stockouts.
  • Overseeing third-party logistics, courier API connections and automated dispatch workflows for nationwide delivery and branch collection.
  • Aligning online inventory, availability and fulfilment rules with multi-branch retail operations, including quote-to-order and collection workflows.
  • Analysing platform sales performance, conversion metrics, user behaviour and channel profitability, converting web data into commercial strategy and executive reporting.
  • Identifying, testing and implementing innovative e-commerce features and conversion-rate optimisation initiatives, including A/B testing of layout, checkout and merchandising.
  • Managing agency developers, vendors and technical partners, and ensuring reliable integration with core enterprise systems, payment gateways and operational platforms.
  • Ensuring e-commerce operations comply with applicable legislation and consumer standards, including ECTA, POPIA, CPA, the Cybercrimes Act and related regulatory requirements.
  • Defining and monitoring key web and commercial metrics (traffic, conversion, average order value, fulfilment performance, returns and customer satisfaction) and acting on insights.
  • Collaborating with merchandising, retail, finance, IT and marketing stakeholders to grow sustainable online sales and improve platform profitability.
