Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to provide on-site support and maintenance for telecommunications equipment across the Durban region. You will install, repair, and upkeep essential telecom infrastructure at customer locations, blending independent field work with collaborative team efforts in a hybrid Durban-based environment.

The role requires a technical qualification, hands-on problem solving, and a strong customer-service focus to ensure reliable and efficient

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification or certification in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar technical support role within the telecom industry.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment for network analysis and repair.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for travel within the Durban area.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and maintain telecom equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to network connectivity, hardware malfunctions, and software problems.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on telecom infrastructure as scheduled.
• Provide technical assistance and training to customers on equipment usage and basic troubleshooting.
• Document all service calls, actions taken, and resolution status.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while performing duties in the field.
