Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician for our Durban client, a major manufacturing firm. This hands-on role ensures the optimal functioning and longevity of production machinery, helping minimize downtime and sustain high productivity in a state-of-the-art facility.

You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, perform preventive maintenance, read manuals and schematics, and collaborate with production teams to schedule activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with repair of industrial machinery.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A strong commitment to safety and adherence to workplace regulations.
• Technical qualification or certification in a relevant trade is a strong asset.
• Willingness to work shifts if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial machinery, including lathes, mills, presses, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in production equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair requests.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance logs.
• Overhaul, adjust, and calibrate machinery to ensure peak performance and adherence to specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and equipment upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities effectively and minimize impact on output.
• Operate a range of tools and equipment, including welding and fabrication tools, as required.
