Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Pump Systems Technician for on-site work in Durban. You will install, maintain, and repair a range of pumps and associated equipment across industrial sectors, diagnosing faults and performing high-quality repairs.

The role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong safety focus, and the ability to read schematics and technical manuals. You will work independently or as part of a team, with on-the-job training and ongoing skill development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with industrial pump systems.
• Strong ability to diagnose and repair diverse pump types and related equipment.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Knowledge of safety procedures relevant to industrial maintenance.
• Experience with seals, bearings, and motor couplings.
• Willingness to work on-site at various industrial locations in and around Durban.
• Good communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems related to pump operation.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps.
• Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues and plan repairs.
• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble pumps and components.
• Replace worn parts like seals, bearings, impellers, and motors.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance on pump systems.
• Read technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Ensure work complies with safety regulations and company standards.
• Respond to emergency service requests and provide effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on work performed.
• Assist in selecting suitable pump systems for specific applications.
