Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer for our Durban operations to optimize the end-to-end supply chain, from procurement to delivery. The role focuses on analyzing networks, improving processes, and delivering cost and lead-time reductions.

You will design and implement simulations, collaborate with procurement, operations, and logistics partners, and develop KPIs to drive continuous improvement. A 4–6 year track record in supply chain analysis and ERP/WMS/TMS experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in industrial engineering with focus on supply chain analysis.
• Experience with supply chain modeling software (AnyLogic, Arena) and advanced Excel.
• Strong knowledge of logistics, warehousing, transportation, and inventory control.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and WMS/TMS solutions desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team and present complex information clearly.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current supply chain operations including warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and demand forecasting.
• Design and implement improved supply chain processes and network configurations to reduce lead times.
• Develop and utilize simulation models and data analysis tools to evaluate supply chain scenarios.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction across the supply chain without compromising service levels.
• Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, operations, sales) and external partners (suppliers, carriers).
• Develop and maintain performance metrics (KPIs) and report findings.
• Apply lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies within the supply chain.
• Manage projects related to supply chain upgrades, technology implementation, and process redesign.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
