Job summary

Placements24 in Durban is seeking an Automotive Performance Engineer to design, develop and implement custom ECU calibration strategies for high-performance vehicles. You will use dynamometers and diagnostic tools to optimize power and drivability.

The ideal candidate holds a mechanical/automotive engineering degree with 5+ years of ECU tuning experience, plus hands-on work with Bosch, Siemens or Haltech platforms and EcuTek/Hondata/Cobb software.

Qualifications

Bachelor-level degree or equivalent practical experience in mechanical/automotive engineering.
5+ years hands-on automotive ECU tuning and engine calibration.
Experience with Bosch, Siemens, Haltech ECU platforms and common tuning software.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement custom ECU calibration strategies for performance.
Conduct dynamometer testing to validate tuning modifications.
Monitor engine parameters and fine-tune maps using diagnostic tools.
Analyze air/fuel ratios, ignition timing, and fuel quality to optimize performance.
Collaborate with the engineering team to refine tuning software and hardware.
Document procedures, specifications, and results for QA and traceability.
Troubleshoot performance issues and re-calibrate ECUs as needed.
Stay updated on engine management tech and emissions regulations for SA.
