Placements24 in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, is seeking an experienced Automotive Powertrain Calibration Engineer to optimize ECU calibration for power, drivability, fuel economy and emissions. You will work with testers and engineers at our Mpumalanga facilities, combining hands-on calibration with remote analysis and modeling.

The role requires a mechanical/automotive engineering degree and proven ECU calibration experience in internal combustion engines, using ETAS INCA, dSPACE and AVL tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related field.
• Proven powertrain calibration experience in automotive industry.
• Strong understanding of engine thermodynamics and combustion.
• Experience with calibration tools ETAS INCA, dSPACE, AVL.
• Experience with dynamometer testing and data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate ECUs to optimize performance, drivability, fuel economy, and emissions.
• Conduct on-road and dynamometer testing to validate calibration strategies.
• Analyze test data and implement corrective actions using calibration tools.
• Develop strategies for advanced engine features such as VVT, turbocharging, and hybrids.
• Collaborate with engineers and software developers to define calibration requirements.
• Utilize calibration software to modify and manage calibration parameters.
• Troubleshoot issues and ensure compliance with emissions regulations.
• Document calibration changes and test results.
