Placements24 in South Africa seeks a seasoned Drilling Supervisor to oversee field operations in the Bloemfontein region. This hybrid role combines on-site supervision with remote administrative tasks, ensuring drilling projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

You will lead drilling crews, manage rigs and equipment, coordinate logistics, and liaise with geologists and engineers to meet targets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of drilling supervision experience.
• Experience with RC, diamond, and DTH drilling.
• Strong knowledge of drilling equipment, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proven leadership and ability to manage on-site and remote admin tasks.

About the Role

This hybrid role allows for remote administrative work alongside essential on-site supervision, ensuring drilling projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to specification. You will be responsible for managing drilling crews, equipment, and logistics, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and operational standards within the demanding mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily drilling operations, including exploration, production, and geotechnical drilling.
• Ensure all drilling activities are conducted in strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Manage drilling crews, providing training, guidance, and performance oversight.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of drilling rigs and associated equipment.
• Manage drilling consumables, logistics, and inventory.
• Liaise with geologists and engineers to ensure drilling targets and specifications are met.
• Prepare daily drilling reports and maintain accurate records of operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a driller or in drilling supervision.
• Proven experience with various drilling techniques (e.g., RC, diamond, DTH).
• Strong knowledge of drilling equipment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of mine safety procedures.
