About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Drilling Supervisor to oversee drilling operations in the vicinity of Cape Town . This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and safe execution of drilling programs, managing rig personnel, and adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of drilling activities, ensuring optimal performance and risk mitigation. This position offers a chance to work with a prominent player in the energy sector and contribute directly to exploration and production efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all aspects of drilling operations on-site, ensuring adherence to drilling programs and procedures.
• Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment by implementing and enforcing strict health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies.
• Monitor drilling progress, equipment performance, and crew activities, making necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency.
• Coordinate with other departments, including geology, engineering, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations.
• Manage inventory of drilling supplies and equipment, ensuring timely replenishment.
• Train and mentor junior drilling staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and associated risks.
• Proven experience with well control procedures and safety management systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding, field-based environment.
• Relevant certifications in drilling operations and HSE are highly desirable.
