Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' drilling engineering experience in oil & gas.
• Proven experience in well planning, execution and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling plans including well trajectory, casing, mud design and completion strategies.
• Supervise on-site or remote drilling operations ensuring safety and adherence to plans.
• Manage drilling risks and implement mitigation to prevent incidents.
• Optimize drilling performance through real-time data analysis and parameter adjustments.
• Coordinate with service companies and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of resources and equipment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Drilling Engineer to oversee and manage drilling operations for oil and gas wells in and around the Centurion area. This role is critical for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective well construction. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing drilling programs, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations within the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will work closely with rig crews, service providers, and other technical teams to achieve drilling objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling plans, including well trajectory, casing programs, mud design, and completion strategies.
• Supervise drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to plans and safety procedures.
• Manage drilling risks, identify potential hazards, and implement mitigation measures to prevent incidents.
• Optimize drilling performance by analyzing real-time data and making necessary adjustments to parameters.
• Coordinate with service companies, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of resources and equipment.
• Conduct post-drilling analysis and prepare comprehensive reports on well performance and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering within the oil and gas sector.
• Proven experience in well planning, execution, and supervision.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluids, cementation, directional drilling, and completion techniques.
