About the Role

Our client seeks an accomplished Lead Drilling Engineer to spearhead their drilling operations and strategy from Centurion, Gauteng . This senior position involves the planning, execution, and supervision of complex drilling projects, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and operational standards. You will be responsible for optimizing drilling performance, managing costs, and mitigating risks associated with exploration and development wells in various challenging geological environments. This is a critical leadership role within the oil and gas exploration sector , demanding exceptional technical acumen, innovative problem-solving capabilities, and a commitment to excellence in project execution and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive drilling programs and procedures for exploration and development wells.
• Manage all aspects of drilling operations, including rig selection, equipment specification, and contractor oversight.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental policies, and company standards throughout drilling campaigns.
• Optimize drilling parameters to enhance efficiency, reduce non-productive time (NPT), and control costs.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for potential drilling hazards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to drilling engineers and rig site personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in drilling engineering, with significant experience in a leadership capacity within the oil and gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling technologies, casing design, cementing, well control, and directional drilling.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex drilling projects from conception to completion.
