Job summary

University of the Western Cape seeks a Director of Residential Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across all residence functions. The role drives student satisfaction, retention, and wellbeing while ensuring compliant, cost-effective housing operations.

The successful candidate will lead implementation of talent management, budget oversight, and partnerships with campus stakeholders to expand housing opportunities and maintain a high-quality living-learning

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years’ managerial experience in student residential accommodation or a related environment.
Experience in higher education or a multi-campus environment.
Knowledge of South African legislation governing student housing, health and safety.
Additional training or certification in property, facilities, or project management.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all residence functions.
Implement integrated talent management framework including performance development.
Oversee allocation, occupancy, and maintenance of student residences.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to expand student housing opportunities.
