Responsibilities include leading guest services, housekeeping, F&B, activities and maintenance; managing budgets, costs, and revenue growth; and developing a high-performing, diverse team while maintaining world-class facilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in senior management in luxury hospitality.
• Proven multi-department leadership in a high-end establishment.

• Degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.

About the Role

Our client, a premier luxury safari lodge situated near George, Western Cape , is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the lodge, ensuring an unparalleled guest experience that aligns with the brand's commitment to luxury, service excellence, and conservation. The Director of Operations will manage various departments, including guest services, housekeeping, food and beverage, activities, and maintenance, while driving operational efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality management, a passion for the African wilderness, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all operational departments to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction.
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and maintain high standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, control expenses, and drive revenue growth initiatives.
• Lead, train, and motivate a diverse team of hospitality professionals, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Ensure the lodge's infrastructure, facilities, and grounds are maintained to the highest standards.
• Coordinate with the marketing and sales teams to develop packages and promotions.
• Uphold the brand's reputation for luxury, exclusivity, and exceptional guest service.
• Manage inventory and procurement for all operational supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
• Develop and implement robust health, safety, and security protocols for guests and staff.
• Oversee guest relations, addressing concerns and ensuring all guest needs are met promptly and professionally.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in senior management roles within the luxury hospitality sector, preferably in remote or lodge environments.
• Proven experience managing multiple departments in a high-end, full-service establishment.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, P&L management, and cost control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
• A passion for nature, conservation, and delivering authentic safari experiences.
• Proficiency in property management systems (PMS) and other relevant hospitality software.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in a demanding environment.
• A degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Willingness to live on-site in the lodge or in close proximity to George .
