Job summary

The Building Company in South Africa is seeking a hands-on operations supervisor responsible for daily site and yard activities. You will oversee administration, stock control, forklift readiness, and staff attendance to ensure smooth operations.

You will lead and develop the team, ensure policy compliance, manage rosters for weekends/public holidays, and keep management informed of discrepancies, stock levels, and delivery movements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain administrative functions effectively
• Inspire, motivate, guide and lead staff to meet objectives while upholding policies
• Check forklifts are ready to operate by inspecting oil, water and ports
• Monitor and manage staff attendance
• Ensure customers driving into yard are attended to
• Ensure legal compliance with legislation governing operations and take action as needed
• Report discrepancies to management immediately
• Maintain staff rosters for weekends and public holidays
• Maintain and manage stock effectively and accurately
• Physically check stock and delivery vehicles leaving the yard
• Uphold and promote the company values and culture
