Job summary

Pick n Pay Summerstrand in the Eastern Cape is seeking a Manager Deli to lead the Deli team, optimise resources to maximise turnover and minimise shortage, and ensure SOPs and health and safety policies are strictly followed.

The role requires Grade 12, a related Food/Retail qualification (advantageous), 3–5 years in Fresh Foods retail with at least 2 years in supervision, and a strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
• Relevant Food / Retail / Culinary qualification is advantageous.
• 3–5 years retail experience in Fresh Foods / Deli.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory/management experience.
• Strong knowledge of food safety & hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service and engage on the floor.
• Ensure service counters are fully staffed and customer-focused.
• Drive suggestive selling and product knowledge among staff.
• Achieve departmental sales, GP, and margin targets.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and food safety standards.
• Manage stock ordering, receiving and inventory levels.
• Lead, coach, and develop Deli staff; manage budgets and reporting.
