Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking a capable crew member for onboard operations and guest service on our cruise vessel in South Africa. You will assist with deck maintenance, safety procedures, and daily ship tasks while upholding high service standards with guests and crew.

The role requires physical fitness, the ability to work long hours in varying weather, and adherence to STCW Basic Safety Training and maritime regulations. Training is provided on board.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of vessel decks and machinery.
• Provide excellent onboard guest service.
• Handle lines and assist with docking procedures.
• Perform routine safety checks and maintain a safe working environment.
• Participate in emergency drills and be familiar with procedures.
• Assist with loading/unloading cargo and supplies.
• Help with meal preparation and service for guests and crew.
• Monitor and report issues to Captain or crew.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies.
• Follow company policies and maritime regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of the vessel, including cleaning and maintenance of decks, equipment, and machinery
• Provide excellent customer service to guests onboard the cruise ship
• Handle lines and assist with docking and undocking procedures
• Perform routine safety checks and maintain a safe working environment
• Participate in emergency drills and be familiar with emergency procedures
• Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo and supplies
• Help with the preparation and serving of meals for guests and crew
• Monitor and report any issues or concerns to the Captain or other crew members
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
• Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as maritime laws and regulations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience on a vessel or in a maritime environment preferred
• Basic knowledge of navigation, safety procedures, and maintenance
• Ability to work long hours and in varying weather conditions
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Valid seafarer's medical certificate and STCW Basic Safety Training
