Job summary

Communicate Finance seeks a skilled Electrician to monitor, maintain, and repair critical infrastructure in a Durban facility. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, read schematics, and coordinate with contractors to ensure uptime in a high-availability environment.

The role requires a Trade Tested Red Seal Electrician with 2+ years post-qualification experience, and the ability to work 24/7 shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Electrician with Red Seal recognized
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
• Experience in fault-finding, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings and schematics
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing/critical infrastructure/high-availability environments
• Strong communication, problem-solving and reporting skills
• Willing to work shifts in a 24/7 operational environment
• Wireman’s Licence would be advantageous
• Data centre/mission-critical environment experience would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance to ensure facility reliability and compliance with operational standards
• Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting on critical systems, implementing repairs and coordinating with specialist contractors where required
• Perform equipment inspections, switching and isolation procedures, and daily infrastructure walkabouts to proactively identify and mitigate risks
• Support infrastructure projects, commissioning activities, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise uptime and efficiency

Skills & Experience

• Trade Tested Red Seal Electrician
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience
• Strong electrical fault-finding, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, and schematics
• Experience working within industrial, manufacturing, critical infrastructure, or high-availability environments
