Job summary

Communicate Finance seeks a skilled Electrician to monitor, maintain, and repair critical infrastructure in a Durban facility. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, read schematics, and coordinate with contractors to ensure uptime in a high-availability environment.

The role requires a Trade Tested Red Seal Electrician with 2+ years post-qualification experience, and the ability to work 24/7 shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Electrician with Red Seal recognized
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
• Experience in fault-finding, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings and schematics
• Experience in industrial/manufacturing/critical infrastructure/high-availability environments
• Strong communication, problem-solving and reporting skills
• Willing to work shifts in a 24/7 operational environment
• Wireman’s Licence would be advantageous
• Data centre/mission-critical environment experience would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and repair critical infrastructure including electrical distribution, UPS, generator, HVAC, and fire protection systems
• Perform planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance for reliability and compliance
• Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting on critical systems, coordinating with contractors
• Perform equipment inspections, switching/isolation procedures, and daily walks to mitigate risks
• Support infrastructure projects, commissioning, upgrades, and continuous improvement to maximise uptime and efficiency
