Placements24 is seeking a proactive Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team in South Africa. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to safeguard network and systems, deploying security infrastructure, and responding to incidents with hands-on expertise.

You will work with SIEM, cloud security, and threat modeling practices, collaborating across teams to improve defenses and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or a similar technical security role.
• Proficiency with network security technologies and protocols.
• Hands-on experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong understanding of threat modeling and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems.
• Implement and manage endpoint security solutions, such as antivirus, EDR, and host-based intrusion prevention.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing remediation measures.
• Conduct regular security audits and penetration tests to identify and address vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams, security policies, and incident response plans.
• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
